James Borowski is a highly sought-after New York City area bass trombonist. As a rare jazz improviser on the bass trombone, he has made a significant impact on the jazz world as well as the trombone world. He has performed with numerous big bands around New York including 10 years as the bass trombonist with the Birdland Big Band. His big band resume also includes performances with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, big band jazz performances with Michael Feinstein and Marilyn Maye, and several years touring with the world-famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. Additionally James has made waves with some more modern big bands including Big Beat Big Band as well as the New York
Afro-Bop Alliance Big Band.

Not only a jazz musician, James has also played extensively in the brass band world as an eight-year member of the Princeton Brass Band, winning the NABBA Championship in 2013 and performing as a soloist with the group on multiple occasions. He is no stranger to orchestral performance, either, having
subbed with the New Haven Symphony as well as being the current bass trombonist in the orchestra for Princeton Pro Musica.
James works in the popular music industry as well, performing with a diverse
group of acts ranging from Johnny Mathis to the Four Tops and the Temptations. He has also appeared in the orchestras for Broadway productions including Les Misérables and Paradise Square. James holds a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree and Master’s Degree in Bass Trombone Performance from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University where he studied with John Rojak, as well as a
Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University.
